The Full Story
Throughout my life, softball was more than just a sport – it was my identity. When I started college, that chapter closed abruptly, leaving me feeling adrift without the structure and purpose that athletics had always provided. This feeling only intensified when I moved across the country, finding myself in a new city without friends, goals, or direction.
That's when running found me. At first, it was just a way to stay active, and like many runners, I firmly declared "I'll never run a marathon." Half marathons seemed like more than enough of a challenge. But running became so much more than exercise – it became my anchor in a new city, my daily dose of achievement, and eventually, my gateway to an incredible community.
When I finally decided to tackle my first marathon, something unexpected happened. The journey transformed not just my physical health, but my entire outlook on life. It strengthened my relationships, boosted my confidence, and showed me what I was truly capable of achieving. The experience was so profound that I knew I had to create a space where others could share their own marathon stories.
That's how "My First Marathon" was born. This podcast is dedicated to runners at every stage of their journey – from those just lacing up their shoes for the first time to seasoned marathoners looking back on where it all began. Through intimate conversations with diverse runners about their first marathon experiences, we're proving that the marathon isn't just for "natural athletes" or "gifted runners." It's for anyone brave enough to take that first step.
